What is Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT)?
Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) uses music and rhythm to help the brain improve movement, speech, and thinking skills. Therapists use rhythm, melody, and tempo to help people reach their goals in a fun and engaging way.
How NMT Works
NMT is based on research showing that music can help the brain build new connections. Sessions may include singing, playing instruments, moving to music, and practicing skills in a supportive environment.
- Moving to music to improve walking and coordination
- Singing and vocal exercises to help speech and language
- Playing instruments to build attention and memory
